Welcome

The IISF was established primarily to improve the understanding and practice of Information Security within the business computer user community. This has grown to be a gathering of security professionals and practitioners from a variety of organisations - mainly in Dublin for practical reasons of travel to meetings etc.

Specific objectives have been set to help achieve this goal (of continuous improvement) -

1. Facilitate the exchanging of information and sharing of experiences of mutual interest

2. Provide a focal point for the users of various information security products

3. Hold regular meetings and presentations on Information Security topics

4. Represent the views of IT Security practitioners on matters of public concern

5. Promote best security practice and standards

It is in the best interest of the wider business community that the highest standards of Information Security be maintained. In general, security is not a competitive issue - we may compete vigorously in the market with our respective products and services - but in the area of Security it is in our own interest that we share information on vulnerabilities and techniques.

Because of the nature of security, we must be careful about who we are exchanging information with. Membership is therefore restricted to bone-fide computer using companies, operating in Ireland. Associate membership is available for vendors of security related products and services.

Next Meeting

The next IISF event is scheduled for 2pm on Thursday April 14th 2010 in Buswells Hotel.
